RESOLUTION ON RESTOCKING ACTIVITIES IN EUROPEAN AQUACULTURE
RESOLUTION 1
RESOLUTION ON RESTOCKING ACTIVITIES IN EUROPEAN AQUACULTURE
Background
The FEAP has attempted to undertake a European-wide survey of restocking practices so as to estimate the contribution and importance of this sector within European aquaculture.
It has proved to be extremely difficult to ascertain accurate statistics on this activity due to the diverse array of regulatory, private and voluntary organisations that are responsible for permitting and achieving restocking activities.
Resolution
In order to achieve an accurate representation of the restocking of fish sourced from European hatcheries and farms, the FEAP requests the European Commission to ask the Member States of the European Union and the European Economic Area to undertake an annual report of the national restocking activities for all fish species produced in European aquaculture.
-
Such reports should include national and private restocking activities and actions.
-
These reports should include freshwater and marine species, including all salmonid species, carps and other freshwater fish species
