Training and mobility opportunities are one of the underestimate support elements of European RTD. Specific training courses have proved to be very successful in many areas of aquaculture, one of the more recent examples being the ‘Aqualabs’ courses organised by AquaTT.

Actions for mobility, either for students or trainees (from companies), are also supported by European initiatives.

Gauging the success of the facilities available to both the profession and the academic world, including students, is a difficult exercise, particularly within a sector that is as varied as that encountered in aquaculture. Nonetheless, the positive experiences on both sides must be underlined.

A range of opportunities are available and can only contribute to the desired improvements and sustainability effort of the European aquaculture sector.
